NEW SEEDLINGS AND GREEN SURFACES ADAPTATION

Pasi Poljana and Delijski Vis Citizens Councils, with the support of Palilula Municipality, organized the adaptation of neglected green surfaces. President of the Municipality, Boban Dzunic with his associates Milos Stojkovic and Aleksandar Zdrale, members of Municipal Council and Office for Youth with the citizens of these settlements planted some new seedlings.

The adaptation of bigger green surfaces and planting of new seedlings is very important in urban areas where the pollution is the highest. It is known that park and forest vegetation positively effect on climate, land as well as it reduces effects of gasses. It has been all recognized in Palilula Municipality and in the cooperation with councils of citizens the action of adaptation of wasted surfaces started. First the people living in Pasi Poljana settlement gathered.

Thanks to our initiative and support of the Municipal authorities of Palilula, we arranged the park and planted new seedlings in the centre of this settlement and next to the old school – says Milivoje Mitic, president of Citizens Council. During the last two years, in the settlement Pasi Poljana more infrastructural projects have been realized. The paved streets were adapted, mobiliar placed, organized activities of social and humane importance, also it was invested in construction and adaptation of sport terrains in the surface of 4,400 square meters. Palilula Municipality over IPA programme of cross border cooperation Bulgaria-Serbia provided about 220,000 Euro. Primary school `Kralj Petar Prvi` in Pasi Poljana, thanks to the project of the Municipality, got appropriate sport equipment and requisites but also new playgrounds for the volleyball, handball, tennis and football, as well as terrains fro the long jump, trim and athletic track. With the action of adaptation of green surfaces, beside the contribution in improving life space in settlements, continued education of children and young people is being realized, ecologic consciousness is being developed and in the right way possibilities that nature offers are used in the best way – emphasizes Boban Dzunic.This activity is par of national world ecologic campaign `Clean up the world 2014` that is promoted in Serbia by EKOpolis net and project Living green (completed with Bulgarian Municipality Ihtiman successfully at the beginning of this year).

Activity on the adaptation of inter-residential building greens around Local Community `Delijski Vis` and in front of the polyclinic in this settlement started the members of Citizen Council. According to Vladimir Stanic president of the Council words, this type of citizen activism joined about 25 citizens. Cleaning and adaptation of park surfaces was first goal that was mostly neglected. Cleaning activities are joining the volunteers who work together on reaching unique aim, it was garbage collection from common areas like parks, channels or beaches, trees planting, preserving water and strengthening of ecological consciousness over educational programmes. Possibilities for the activities are limitless and only are limited with imagination of organizational committees and needs of local community it is said in Ekopolis.

According to words Dzunic these actions in Palilula Municipality we want to give stimuli to citizens initiative and to have also influence to life quality improvement of the people in settlements of municipality and contribute to approaching EU standards that give at least 25 square meters of green surfaces per person in the cities. According to done researches in the last thirty years nu,ber of green surfaces in Serbian cities is less than one fifth which contributed to damaging consequences for life surrounding. Palilula in its Action plan up to 2016 took into account the activities in solving this significant matter.
